To fix the problem of the automatic launching of apps at the startup first you need to manage the apps which are automatically launching with the help of Task Manager.
Step -1: First you need to open the Task Manager, as you know there are number of ways to launch task manager such as
- You can directly right-click on the Start button and then select the Task Manager option
- You can use the keyboard shortcut by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc button altogether at the same time to directly open the task manager.
- You can simply right-click on the Taskbar and then from the menu click on the Task Manager option.
By using any of this way you can simply open the Task Manager.
Step-2: Once you open the task manager now you have to click on the Startup tab.
Step-3: Once you open the startup tab now you will find a list of the applications and services configured to start alongside Windows 10 with their names, publisher, status, and performance impact.
From this list, the two important column in this tab is the Status column and the Startup impact column. The status column tells you which items are currently enabled and the Startup column displays the performance impact of an app or service during startup.
Using the information from these two columns you need to identify the application which is causing the problem.
How to Identify the Application which is Causing the Problem
Step-1: Once you find all the list of the application now you have to click on the Status column in order to sort the items into Enabled and Disabled to make the list more manageable.
Step-2: In order to find which application is creating the problem, the task manager displays an impact measurement for each app. The Windows 10 basically determine each value using different ways by showing High, Medium, Low and not measured.
High– If the Windows 10 is showing value high it means the application is utilizing more than 1,000ms of processor time, or it uses more than 3MB of disk Input/Output.
Medium– In the case of it is showing value medium then it means the application is using 300ms to 1,000ms of processor time or 300KB to 3MB of disk Input/Output.
Low– If it is showing the impact is low then it means the application is using less than 300ms of processor time and less than 300KB of disk Input/Output.
Not Measured: If it is showing the impact is not measured then this usually means that the application was recently installed in the computer or laptop and Windows 10 has not calculated its impact. It could also happen that when an application has been uninstalled, but the entry still shows up in the Task Manager.
While you can control anything listed in the Startup tab, it is also important to understand what you’re trying to disable, because in some cases you could accidentally block an application or service that is required to run the operating system or application correctly on your computer or laptop.
If you want to know more information about an application then just right click on the app and then click the Search Online option from the menu. Once you click on the search online option it will perform an online search in your web browser with the name of the application and exact file name.
Step-3: Now once you determine which apps you want to disable the use of the information from the task manager then you need to stop it from launching at startup
Step-4: To stop the app from launching you have to simply right-click on the application, and select Disable option to prevent the app from starting automatically at startup on Windows 10.
Alternatively, you can also simply select the application which you want to disable and then click on the Disable button which is available in the bottom-right corner.
After completing the above steps successfully you must restart your computer or laptop for the changes to take effect because these steps would not close an application that is currently running. Depending on the application which you disabled, you should notice an improvement in the overall performance of Windows 10.
