When MBR file is corrupted, and you are not able to boot your system, then some error will be seen on your screen as “Operating System not found”, “Error loading operating system”, “Missing operating system” or “Invalid partition table”. How To Fix Master Boot Record (MBR) in Windows 10
Master Boot Record (MBR) problem is relatively easy to repair, and still best to be prepared for the worst in case this type of problem ever strikes again in your laptop. If you want to get rid of this issue, then these are the steps you must have to follow in order to fix master boot record in your Windows 10. These steps are verified and will surely works with your system too.
Step 1: Firstly download all the files of windows installation or get a Windows installation CD.
Step 2: Go to the Windows Recovery Menu during booting with the help of F8 button.
Step 3: Once you clicked on Windows recovery menu, a new screen appears and then click on Troubleshoot. See the image below for your reference.
Step 4: In order to get into Automatic Repair Menu select the Advanced Options from Troubleshooting.
Step 5: Use the tool Bootrec.exe and type the following commands in Command Prompt in the same sequence as discussed below one after another.
bootrec /RebuildBcd
and then enter the command,
bootrec /fixMbr
followed by the command
bootrec /fixboot
Step 6: Exit from that window and reboot your system.
NOTE: In some cases, you have to run these commands also,
bootsect /nt60 SYS
or
bootsect /nt60 ALL
Step 7: Take a backup of master boot record and create a System Recovery Drive, in order to take some precautions from above steps so that in future you don’t have to run for the Windows Recovery Disk. This is the recommended step which you have to do.
Steps to create a system recovery disk:
Now, for creating the System Recovery Disk, follow these easy and simple steps.
Step 1: Firstly open the run administrator by pressing the Windows key plus R, i.e Windows+R.
Step 2: And type the word RecoveryDrive.exe in the run administrator.
Step 3: Once you pressed the enter key, a new dialogue box will appear on your screen.
Step 4: Simply click on the next button seen on the right bottom of the box.
Step 5: Once you insert USB drive into your system, it will start creating the Recovery for your USB drive.
This means that the MBR is fixed now and you can also verify it by typing the command bcdedit /enum in Command Prompt.
