Problem 1 : Slow Internet Speed
Solution: If your computer or laptop is connected to the router through the wireless network and you are getting very slow internet speed then try to connect your computer through an Ethernet cable with the router this will help you to improve the internet speed. If this does not work then consider resetting your router. In Many routers, there is a “Reset” button at the back you can reset your router by holding this button for at least 30 seconds with the help of a paperclip which restores the default factory setting. You can also consider changing the frequency channel of the router and always try to stay on the less crowded channel. These changes can help to improve your internet speed and if nothing working then either there is a problem with your internet connection or your router is getting older.
Problem 2 : Your Wi-Fi signal doesn’t reach to certain rooms in your house
Solution:
Change the position of the router- Most of the people put their router in the corner of the room or in a closet as this will not allow the router to deliver Wi-Fi signal in all directions. To broadcast the wireless signal in all direction you should always place your router at the center of the house.
Adjust the external antennas- By adjusting the antennas of the router you can improve the Wi-Fi coverage area throughout your home and your Wi-Fi signal will be able to reach the every corner of your house. You can also add more external antennas to the router with the help of the ports available at the back of the router.
Reduce the interference of other routers: If you are living in a multi-story building or in an apartment building then the other routers which are available in your building can interface with your router and can reduce the speed and coverage area of the signal. So by changing the Channel of your router will definitely help you to reduce the interference.
Problem 3 : Overheating of router
Solution: The overheating problem of the wireless router occurs due to the downloading of large files or you are streaming high data for long period of time. The various problem occurs due to an overheating router such as it will automatically shut down, disconnect the devices from the network and more. Stop using the router and allow it to cool is not a permanent solution. you have to make sure the ventilation of the router is always open and try to place the router in the cooler area will help to reduce the overheating of the router.
Problem 4 : Dropped Connection
Solution: If you are continuously getting a dropped connection to your wireless home network then it could be a sign of the failure of your router. This problem can be solved by leaving the router off for some time and then reboot it. You can also try to change the window of your computer or laptop as sometimes there are some bugs in the window which create the dropping connection problem. If nothing helping then you need to change your router as it is getting older or dying.
Problem 5 : Random Power Loss of Router
Solution: The Random power loss of the router is not a common problem. The reason behind the problem can be either your electrical outlet or the power cable of your router. Check your electrical outlet to make sure your router is properly plugged in and if there is no problem with electrical outlet then there must be a problem in your router power cable. you need to change the router power cable to deal with the problem of random power loss.
Problem 6 : Forgot the wireless password
Solution: There is a very common problem of the most of the people that they forgot their wireless password. If there is no way of getting back your wireless password then you need to reset your router and set it up from start. To reset your router you have to press the Reset button available at the back of the router for almost 30 seconds with the help of paperclip. Problem 7 : Loose Cable or disconnection of cable
Solution: When you are working on your wireless network and suddenly your router turn off then this could be the problem of disconnection of cable from the router. The disconnection of cable occurs either due there is defect in your cable or there is a problem in your electrical switch outlet. If your router is not able to connect with the internet but otherwise it is operating normally then there must be a problem with the connection of the cables.
