Basically, there are two ways for finding and removing the Duplicate Contacts from your Andriod Phones. I am going to tell you both the methods step by step for removing the duplicate contacts from your phone.
- Using Google Contacts on Web
- Using third-party Application
1. Using Google Contacts on Web
The Google Contact method will only work if you had synced your contacts on Google Contact account. If not done yet, you can instantly do it by going to Contacts->Accounts->Google and sync your contacts. Just follow the instruction and sync your contacts.
Now, for finding and deleting the duplicate contacts from your Phone, follow these steps.
Step 1: Go to any browser and open Google Contacts. Now, log in with the same email id which you have used on your Android phone.
Step 2: After logged in, you will be able to see all your phone contacts on your PC screen. On the left sidebar, you will see the “Duplicate Contact Option“. Click on that option.
Step 3: After clicking on this option all your duplicate contacts and a new option will available of merge them individually or merge them all. From these two options, choose any one which you want.
Step 4: After selecting merge option, you will see all your duplicate contacts will merge.
This is the easiest way of finding and deleting the duplicate contacts from your phone. Just you need to use the same google account and sync all the contacts with it.
2. Using Third-Party Applications
The alternate method of Google Contacts is using various third-party applications. These applications are specially made for removing duplicate content from your phone. I will explain you two applications for doing this task.
Attention! Before using any third-party application, always take the backup of your contacts in some safe place or you can also export .vcf file by going to Contacts->Import/Export->Export to .vcf file.
1st App: Duplicate Contacts App
From various apps for removing duplicate contacts, the first app and the best app is the “Duplicate Contacts” app which has the easiest and user-friendly interface. It is an extremely simple to use the app and it also has a good reputation on Google Play Store. Now, follow these simple steps for removing unwanted contacts.
Step 1: The first step is to download the Duplicate Contact app from Google Play Store and launch the application. After launching it, it will automatically scan and show all duplicate contacts. You can check and uncheck the contacts you want.
Step 2: Now, click on “Delete selected”. After this a confirmation message display on the screen where you have to click on “Yes” to delete all of your duplicate contacts.
2nd App: Merge Simpler Application
With Simpler, you can easily merge all your duplicate contacts and quickly find the contacts you need. This is also one of the best apps for finding and deleting the duplicate contacts from your Android Phones. This app can:
- Merge all duplicate contacts with one tap.
- Find & merge contacts with similar names.
- Find & Merge contacts with duplicate phone or email.
Now, let’s follow the simple steps for operating this application on your Android Phone.
Step 1: The first step is to download the “Simpler Merge” application from Google Play Store and open the app.
Step 2: Once you have installed it, now after opening it, this app will automatically show you all the duplicate contacts.
Step 3: Enter “Duplicate Contacts” and select the contact you want to merge. It will merge the selected contacts. After this, you will find the options to merge a contact or “merge all duplicates”. You can also choose to ignore a contact if you want.
Now after choosing to Merge or Merge all, the duplicates will be deleted and merged into one contact. The only limitation of this application is that you can only merge duplicates one by one. To merge all duplicate contacts with a tap, you will have to buy the Pro version through an in-app purchase.
