Whenever you take a photo a file is created which not only includes the image, but also an array of data about the author, device, date, and other more important details regarding the device which are commonly known as metadata. The metadata is one of the useful information that can help you to organize your files. Also, it makes search easier on your computer, because this is the kind of information which Windows search looks for to return a search query.
This means that most of the metadata information you add, the more accurate the search results will be on your computer. In some cases, the information of the metadata is missing or incorrect and also when you upload the image on the web, it also carries some sensitive details which you may don’t want others to know but you don’t have to worry because Windows allows you to easily edit this information or completely remove it from any file type. So in this article, I will guide with simple steps to edit image metadata on Windows 10.
Steps to Edit Image File Metadata
To edit the metadata on image files follow the steps given below
Step-1: Open the folder on your PC which contains images file and then right click on the file, select the Properties option from the open menu.
Step-2: Once you click on the image properties a new pop-up will open with Image properties and here click on the Details tab.
In Detail tab, you will see the information of the file which is the part of the metadata and you can quickly edit the information by clicking the value field next to the property. But keep in mind that some data cannot be modified in this detail tab.
The Details tab dividers metadata properties into a number of sections, which can be different in other file types. In this case, the image file is divided into six sections. The first section is called Description, and you can simply click the value field for Title, Subject, Tags, Comments, and edit its information. You can even rate your image by clicking one of the five possible stars.
The second section is the Origin and in this section, you can edit the Author, Data taken, Date acquired, and Copyright of the Image.
