In the recently launched Creators Update by Microsoft, this feature is known as “Fresh Start”. In this version of Windows, you will find this feature in Windows Defender interface. Now, follow these easy steps for Fresh Starting your Windows.
Step 1: The initial step to open the Windows Defender Security Center application from the start menu. If this option is not showing on your screen, then you must not have upgraded to Creators Windows Update. For reference, you can see the image below.

Step 2: After completing the first step, you will see the new window with various options. From the options mentioned there, you have to select “Device performance and & health” in the sidebar, and then click the “Additional info” link under Fresh start. Check the image below for reference.
The alternate way to reach this screen is to go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and click the “Learn how to start fresh with a clean installation of Windows”.
Here, you will get the instructions and some important details from Windows which you have to keep in mind before refreshing your data. Windows 10 will be reinstalled and updated to the latest release. You’ll keep your personal files and some Windows settings, but all of your desktop applications including the applications that came with your PC and applications you’ve installed will be removed.
Step 3: After clicking on Additional info button, you will finally see the “Get Started” button. When you are ready and backup all your important files, click on this button as shown on above image.
After clicking on this button, the Windows will give a warning about the time taken for completing this function. This time is decided by analyzing the speed of your PC. To begin the process click “Next” button as shown in the image below.
Step 4: After clicking Next, you will again see a blue screen with the list of all the desktop applications that it will uninstall. It also saves this list in a text file on your PC’s desktop, making it easy to see what apps you previously had installed.
Step 5: Again click on the “Next” Button to go further. After this, you see the final screen where you will see some information displayed on the screen. Just read the instructions and Hit the “Start” Button as shown in the image below.
Now you are done. After hitting this button, the process will begin and after the completion of the process, you will have a fresh Windows 10 installation. Now, the updates of the Windows will automatically run and your Windows will be updated to the latest version.

How to Reinstall Windows 10 on the Anniversary Update
In the Anniversary Update of Windows 10, you will see the different option named as “Reset This PC”. Before you start the process of resetting to factory setting you need to backup all personal data such as documents, pictures, and other important files. Now, Let’s have a look at the process step by step.
Step-1: The first step is to go to the Start menu and there click on the Setting button.
Step-2: Now in the setting window click on the Update & Security option as shown in the image below.

- Remove everything
- Restore factory settings
Step-6: Now from the above three option you have to Click on Restore factory settings option to reset Windows 10 to factory settings. Once you click on this option resetting Windows 10 to factory settings will delete all personal files, apps, classic programs, and Windows settings.
