After the launch of Redmi Note 5 Pro, many Android geeks are looking for the various methods to root it. But, before rooting your Android phone, the essential part is to unlock the bootloader of it. So, in this article, I am going to list the steps with which you can successfully unlock the Bootloader of Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Basically, the bootloader is a code which runs when we turn on our device. This code initializes some hardware and then loads the kernel and ramdisk, and gets the boot process going. So this process is known as Unlocking Bootloader.
PRE-REQUISITE
Before starting the actual unlock operation you first have to consider the prerequisites list down below:
- Unlocking the Bootloader is considered as the complex process. For this, you need a computer or a notebook along with your phone and its USB cord.
- Take the full backup your phone, because this process may wipe your data.
- Make your Honor 9 Lite charge up to 70% to avoid any technical error.
- Download and Install ADB Fastboot on your PC.
Note: Operations like rooting, unlocking bootloader and flashing are not recommended by the company. Doing these may void the Warranty of your phone.
Steps to Unlock Bootloader on Redmi Note 5 Pro
Step 1: First, you have to create a new Mi account or sign in to an existing one on your phone.
Step 2: Now, go to the http://en.miui.com/unlock/ and click on Unlock now.
Step 3: Here, you have to sign-in with the same Mi account which you used to sign-in on your phone. In case it asks you to enter a nickname, enter your Mi account id then go back and again click on Unlock now.
Step 4: Afer clicking on Unlock Now, you will be redirected to a page where you have to enter your details.
Step 5: After entering all the details, the Xiaomi team will send the OTP on your phone once your application for Unlocking will approve.
Step 6: Once your application is approved, now you have to download the Mi Flash Unlock Tool. After installing this tool, now open it and agree to their terms, sign-in with the same Mi account. It will check whether you have permission or not.
Step 7: Now, you have to enable the Developers Option on your Phone. For this, go to the “Settings” and then head towards “About Phone” at the end of the settings menu. Now scroll down and tap the “Build number” option seven times rapidly. After this, you will see a message “Congratulations, you are now a developer!”.
Step 8: After enabling the Developers Mode, now go back to Settings. There you will see the Developers Option is now available. Now, tap on the “Developer Option” and enable the switch next to the “OEM unlocking” setting.
Step 9: Now power off your device manually and press and hold Volume down + power button to enter into fast boot mode, once you enter into fastboot mode connect your device to computer using a data cable.
Step 10: Once you entered into fastboot mode, the Mi Unlock tool will check whether the device is connected or not. If the device is properly connected, finally press the Unlock button.
After hitting the Unlock button, it will unlock your device within 20 seconds. If in between the process, any error occurred like “your account is not bound to this device”, then try again after a week. If all good, then the Bootloader on your Redmi Note 5 Pro will be unlocked.
